Rehabbed Kelly Osbourne Admits That She Still Drinks

Kelly Osbourne boarded a flight from Los Angeles to Atlanta on June 19th and apparently had a bit of a meltdown. An eyewitness told Star Magazine “She was gorgeous when she got on the flight. Her makeup was impeccable, her hair was up in a smart-looking bun and she was wearing cool shades.” The eyewitness goes on to say “And when we landed just after midnight, her assistant, who flew with her, had to help her off the plane. They were the last to leave. There was already a burly security guard waiting for them at the arrivals lounge.” Could it be true that the E! Fashion Police correspondent, who has been to rehab four times, is a drunken mess? The eyewitness had apparently seen flight attendants serving Ms. Osbourne and her assistant several alcoholic beverages. “Kelly’s hair was hanging down, she was mumbling and her makeup was a mess. The guard and her assistant supported her under each arm and basically carried her down the corridor to the airport tram, with Kelly swaying from side to side. I felt so sorry for her” the eyewitness claimed. Twenty-four hours after the incident she tweeted “had a nervous breakdown yesterday that was cool! #Not.” A friend of hers told Star Magazine that Kelly is “tough as nails, and she always lands on her feet. She’s had so much to deal with at a young age, and she’s tried to handle it the best she can. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the sudden sad news about Jack helped push her into a dark place again. But she’ll come through it OK.”

Since news of the breakdown hit the internet Kelly has spoken out about it. I, for one, appreciate her honesty. Of the incident, she says “The first thing I want to say is the only reason I’m being so honest and telling you what happened is because I don’t think it’s fair for me to lie. I’m not going to say I didn’t do something when I did it. I got drunk on the plane to Atlanta.” She goes on to say “It was on an empty stomach, and before I got on the plane a gentleman came up to me and asked me how my brother was doing and told me about his brother having MS and directed me towards a website. On the plane I started looking at the website. It described how bad certain cases of MS got, and it made me lose it because I’ve sat through my mother having breast cancer, my dad almost dying from a bike accident, and now it’s my brother who’s my best friend. I lost it.” She told radaronline.com “I do have the occasional drink. I will never lie about that. That’s my choice that I make, and I’m an adult and I’m responsible for my own actions.”

Like Kelly Osbourne, I too have been through rehab several times and it’s always drilled into my head that in order to stay sober, one must abstain from all drugs. The Narcotics Anonymous (NA) guidelines state very clearly that “Alcohol is a drug. Period.” Ms. Osbourne has admitted to vicodin abuse and underwent treatment at Las Encinas in Pasadena, California. This all went down on an episode of MTV’s “The Osbournes” a few years back. When radaronline.com asked about her past rehab stints she says “the way I live my life, after going to rehab, is not that way most people do. It isn’t. And yes, I still drink and I’ve always said that. I mean, you can research interviews from years ago, but yes, I’ve always said that. I do have the occasional drink. But I don’t…I’m not using. I haven’t. I won’t. I’m not going to do that.” When asked about what Jack, her brother, would think, Osbourne’s response is “Haha. You’re an idiot.”

From the outside looking in it seems to me that Kelly Osbourne does have her life together and I think that is evidenced by her outstanding contribution E!’s Fashion Police. I find her quite remarkable on the show and am thrilled that she has found her niche in the entertainment industry.
