Body Obsession Leads to Diet Pill Abuse

  In our body obsessed, media frenzied culture, I couldn’t think of something more controversial than weight loss methods. So, of course, it came as no surprise to me when I saw the blaring words “Controversial New Diet Pill Hits Market”. Raspberry Ketone is the new weight loss craze, with actual health benefits including improved cholesterol levels, insulin sensitivity, and reduced liver fat. The article states that “one thing people on both sides can agree on is … [it] works”. So, what’s the controversy about it, you ask? Well, according to Norway’s Department of Public Health, 23% of those with a healthy weight that consider themselves overweight are 4x more likely to misuse diet pills in an attempt to lose weight.
