Lindsay May Get Out Early

Shocker, Lindsay Lohan may be released early from her stint at UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Hospital. Although doctors have not written their final report, sources say Lindsay could be released as early as this week. It’s been reported that UCLA doctors overestimated her psychiatric problems. There were indications that Lindsay suffered from bipolar disorder but that is not the case. In addition, the doctors do not believe her drug use is as severe as they thought. Lindsay had a problem with Adderall, but the doctors don’t think it requires much more inpatient care. One thing standing in the way of Lindsay’s early release is the courts. Online Solution for Addicted Gamblers

Approximately one million Californians are addicted to gambling. From cardrooms and casinos, to the California Lottery, California residents are increasing their gambling habits. Attorney General Jerry Bown has created an online solution for addicted gamblers. Brown’s Self Exclusion Program allows addicted gamblers to voluntarily exclude themselves from the state’s 90 licensed cardrooms. Gamblers can sign-up to the list at ag.ca.gov/gambling/exclusion_self.php. The profiles of those on the list will be available on a database accessible for the licensed cardrooms. Cardroom security can then run a scan on the customer’s name, driver’s license, or zip code to see if he or she is enlisted to be banned from the room. If the gambler has selected to be banned from the room, the customer is escorted from the cardroom and any winnings they make … Read entire article »

Addicted to Fantasy

The first glimpse I had of my dad’s addictive behavior was when he got hooked on my very first Playstation game. Spyro was a 3-D adventure game that puts the gamer in control of a dragon seeking to restore his species from the evil tyrant, Gnasty Gnorb. Being 10 years old, I was drawn to the fantasy and excitement of the somewhat simple game. However, there would be times when I would arrive home from school only to see my dad beating a new level of the game. Although we were a Gnasty Gnorb defeating team, I became upset when he would play the game without me. 10 years later, I have knowledge of my dad’s drug addiction. Being a drug addict myself, I can see he wasn’t trying to take … Read entire article »

Jersey Shore Star Struggles with Alcohol

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi became an overnight star when her reality show, Jersey Shore premiered on MTV in late 2009. Snooki is known for her love of pickles, obsession with tan “guidos”, and her crazy drunken antics. America has watched as Snooki and the rest of her cast make drunken messes of themselves on national television. Personally, I think it’s no surprise that Snooki has a long history of partying and alcohol abuse. In 2004, Snooki was one of three people charged in connection with a classmate who was killed in a drunken driving accident. The teen, Michael Truncali, had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood when he died while driving his car home from a party at Snooki’s house. Snooki was … Read entire article »

New Proposals Hope to Decrease Overdose Fatalities

Accidental overdose deaths from illegal and legal drugs are increasing across the United States of America. Last year, nearly 1,400 people in New York died from an accidental drug overdose. 700 of those deaths occurred in New York City, making overdose the 4th leading cause of death. Lawmakers are now considering two different approaches to reducing the number of overdose fatalities. The first approach will charge drug dealers with manslaughter for providing the fatal drugs. This proposal hopes to reduce drug overdoses by enforcing harsh penalties to decrease drug sales. According to history this method will not help. The draconian Rockefeller Drug Laws were some of the harshest drug laws in … Read entire article »
