How Our Helpline Works

For those seeking addiction treatment for themselves or a loved one, the helpline is a private and convenient solution.

Calls to any general helpline (non-facility specific 1-8XX numbers) for your visit will be answered by American Addiction Centers (AAC).

We are standing by 24/7 to discuss your treatment options. Our representatives work solely for AAC and will discuss whether an AAC facility may be an option for you.

Our helpline is offered at no cost to you and with no obligation to enter into treatment. Neither nor AAC receives any commission or other fee that is dependent upon which treatment provider a visitor may ultimately choose.

For more information on AAC’s commitment to ethical marketing and treatment practices, or to learn more about how to select a treatment provider, visit our About AAC page.

If you wish to explore additional treatment options or connect with a specific rehab center, you can browse top-rated listings, or visit SAMHSA.

Home Addiction Charlie Sheen Hires a Sober Companion Instead of Entering a Drug Rehab

Despite Charlie Sheen’s recent troubles, people close to the Hollywood star say that Sheen is determined to take his newfound sobriety seriously. Last week, Sheen was hospitalized for what sources are calling “alcohol abuse and a psychological evaluation.” This fallout came just 24 hours after divorce papers were filed between the star and his soon to be ex-wife Brooke Mueller. Sheen may be one of the highest payed actors in television, but when it comes to staying out of trouble and issues with substance abuse, Sheen definitely isn’t one of the smarter ones.
According to one source close to the star, “Charlie is taking his sobriety seriously. He is taking it one day at a time. He’s sober, back at work and moving forward.” It is reported that Sheen has even hired a “sober coach” for spiritual guidance and ongoing support for his addiction issues and other personal troubles. Before this past incident, Sheen plead guilty to a domestic violence dispute and spent some time in rehab as part of his plea agreement. Although drug rehab has many benefits, a “sober coach” or sober companion can also be extremely beneficial to anyone trying to stay sober for an extended period of time. A sober companion is an individual who is also in recovery but has been able to stay clean and sober for an extended amount of time. A sober companion is great for anyone in recovery because they offer moral and intellectual support. Sober companion’s not only ensure that the struggling individual will stay sober but are also great because the struggling addict is still able to maintain their daily work routine.
One of the reasons many people struggle with committing to an addiction treatment facility is because it forces the person to leave their work and daily routine. Although this is sometimes necessary for a struggling addict to go into alcohol rehab, sober companions are great because it allows the person to go on with their daily life while helping the person get sober and reworking a solid program. Although sober coaches are not cheap, they serve as a great source of support and structure for anyone struggling with addiction or substance abuse issues.
