In 1959, Father Young founded Peter Young Housing, Industries & Treatment. In the decades to follow, he and scores of supporters have helped liberate thousands of people who were enslaved to their addictions. PYHIT has grown to five non-profit agencies with over 80 divisions offering programs of recovery to anyone who wants a second chance at building a new life.
Working out of the Albany NY area, Father Young has achieved these results by means of his "glidepath" philosophy. The "glidepath" has three components: recovery, housing, and jobs. Joined seamlessly together, these offer addicted men and women a fighting chance to become healthy, employed, tax-paying citizens with careers, families, friendships, and futures. |

Treatment Philosophy:
Father Young has championed the concept of "Wounded Healers". A person who has experienced addiction and successfully overcame it to become an active, stable member of society is better qualified to help those who are themselves struggling with recovery. The "Wounded Healer" concept is carried out throughout the organization.
The primary concern is recovery. Without sobriety a person cannot function to the fullest potential nor make sound decisions to cope with stress and demands to our global society.
