Colleen Kelly, MA MFT is a licensed Marriage Family Therapist and on the clinical staff at the world renowned treatment center Promises, Malibu where she is a Family Therapist. She began working in the field of substance abuse over twelve years ago working at urban American Indian treatment centers as a psychotherapist and adoption advocate. She has worked at several chemical dependency outpatient and residential centers including Milestones, Passages, Beau Monde and at Promises, West Los Angeles for over six years. She has a BA in Performance Studies, a Masters in Clinical Psychology and is currently working towards a Doctorate in Philosophy. Colleen has been certified as an Aware Parenting specialist by Dr. Aletha Solter, a colleague of Piaget. As a prior board member of a Charter school in Los Angeles, she has participated in the creation and implementation of a Waldorf-inspired K-8 curriculum model. Ms. Kelly is a certified Master Domestic Violence Group Facilitator in California and has participated in the development of culturally relevant treatment programs in the American Indian community and testified in court as an expert witness. Colleen is a Board Certified Subject Matter Expert in Substance Abuse with the Board of Behavioral Science and a BBSE licensed Continuing Education Provider. She has had many articles published on Mindfulness in Recovery and is the author of twenty continuing education courses for therapists. Colleen is also on staff at The Action Institute of California working with corporate clients to facilitate team building, strategic planning, crisis intervention and role training workshops using a wide variety of psychoeducation and psychodrama skills. She has taught meditation workshops for years and is a certified Reiki Level II Practitioner. Colleen has studied Buddhism, Taoism, Anthroposophy and had her own meditation practice for decades.
