In today’s world, drug addiction and alcohol abuse have become the major healthcare issues facing many states across the country. Considered treatable diseases by healthcare professionals, both drug rehabilitation programs and alcohol treatment programs have been developed at state levels.
In Wyoming, using hospitals as detox facilities is the first step in breaking drug addiction and bringing the drug addict into a viable drug treatment program have been taken. Many states have developed treatment centers that, depending on the nature of the individual, the drugs involved and the time of use (years, months and so on) can be out-patient or residential. Both programs provide the sort of care necessary, including therapists and counselors who help to evaluate the progress of the addict. Transitional living facilities (sober living homes and half-way houses) are the next step in helping the addict to once again become a productive and self-supporting member of society.
Interventionists, support groups and life coaches are all a part of the addiction recovery program.
The Wyoming Department of Health Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Division also believes that many of these people help in prevention programs as they are aware of what happens during addictions. They travel to schools and are a part of the education process to prevent underage drug and alcohol abuse.
Progressive and aggressive programs such as those developed in Wyoming are helping to cut drug and alcohol addiction with great success.
