When chronic diseases strike a person, treatment is at hand by going to a doctor. Now recognized as treatable diseases, drug and alcohol addictions are better understood and alcohol and drug rehabilitation can begin.
Thanks to Wisconsin’s Substance Abuse Services, more people with drug addictions and suffering from alcohol abuse can begin the road to addiction recovery. Prevention is a major part of the substance abuse package in Wisconsin. By teaching prevention methods in the schools and showing family members how to use them, drug and alcohol abuse growth is being reduced successfully.
Treatment centers around the state offer programs to addicts once the addict has gone through the detox/drying out period. There is no time frame that can be put on detox programs as it depends totally on the number of years of addiction, the substances used and the physical capabilities of the person in detox. It is traumatic to the system and cannot be rushed. Once in a treatment center whether there as an out patient or as a resident, intensive therapy and counseling is provided. Life coaches or sober companions might be designated to help the addict. These people have gone through the process and understand the difficulties now being faced by a recovering drug or alcohol addict.
The main goal of any drug rehabilitation program is to create an individual who is now ready to return to a productive life. Continued support is recommended after recovery. Programs are available to keep that support going.
