I received my masters in education degree in counseling from Alfred University and also studied with the Family Therapy Institute of the University of Rochester and completed a certification program in chemical dependency from SUNY Brockport. I am a licensed mental health counselor and certified chemical dependency counselor in New York State. I have been approved for the Value Options panel, which means that I can accept a number of different insurance plans, including Preferred Care, MVP, and many others. I have counseled hundreds of people over 25 years, dealing with dozens of issues, including substance use, quitting smoking, recovery from trauma, depression, and violence. I use a number of techniques, including Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused and Client Centered Therapy, selecting from each as they seem appropriate. However, I have found that techniques are not as important as the working alliance that the counselor and the client build together.
