The Next Step, Inc.
The Next Step is a 501(c)(3), holding an OASAS license to provide residential treatment for up to fourteen women, age 18 and older, seeking recovery from alcohol and other drugs. Residents participate in nine to fifteen months of intensive, disciplined, and self-help oriented treatment. The variable length of stay is designed so that we can tailor each resident’s program to her individual needs. The Next Step is governed by a Board of Directors. Our staff is comprised of highly skilled and dedicated professionals with state and national credentials, some experiencing their own recovery.
Areas of Expertise
Our philosophy is that chemical dependency is a primary, progressive, chronic, and, if left untreated, fatal disease that affects the whole person. For treatment to be successful, we must address the disease physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Every part of our program is designed to help our women prepare to reenter society and live a healthy, chemically-free lifestyle, maintaining sobriety, and growing one day at a time. Our residents must be willing to participate in every activity of the program, to demonstrate progress in identifying negative and unhealthy coping skills, to develop positive coping skills, and to make the changes necessary to reach recovery goals.
