Benilde Hall began by providing transitional housing and substance abuse treatment to homeless men in 1993. Since its beginning, more than 1600 men have received treatment and housing. In 2001 due to the community needs, Benilde Hall more than doubled their housing capacity by changing location to the present location that has the capacity for 50 men. Benilde Hall opened Matt Talbot In 2006. Matt Talbot is a 12 unit permanent housing apartment building for men who successfully completed the Benilde Hall Program. The men of Matt Talbot continue with their aftercare treatment while becoming mentors and role models within the Benilde Hall community.
