Addiction of any type is tantamount to having a degenerative and debilitating disease. Drugs and alcohol addiction are but two of the types that cannot only change one person’s life, but impact the entire family structure as well. In Massachusetts, the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services has designed a massive program that deals with every type of addiction and rehabilitation treatment that is available today.
Drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers are set up throughout Massachusetts to aid in the addiction recovery of each individual that seeks the program out. They provide the psychological, physical and spiritual needs based on individual requirements. By offering a detox program first, the withdrawal from drugs and/or alcohol is made less traumatic. Massachusetts is one of the states that provide not only treatment center and live-in care, but also home treatment programs that incorporate the entire family.
Alcohol addiction can be as severe as drug addiction because people who abuse alcohol generally have personality changes as they imbibe. The more intoxicated a person becomes, the more the changes in personality are seen. These changes can be violent or completely impassive and benign. It is not only what is changing externally, alcohol and/or drug abuse often harms or destroys the body’s organs and functioning systems. Addiction is a disease and Massachusetts provides the cure through its varied programs.
