I want to add something to this last post. Quitting was made so much easier for me through my connection with God (my higher power). I never would have been able to do it had I not found God through SLA. He has done things for me that I could not have done for myself.

I would love to tell you that I quit smoking by using the 12 steps, it probably would have been much easier. But I just quit cold turkey and basically went crazy for about 3 months. I can tell you that I haven't had a cigarette since January 2, 2002 ( I couldnt make it thru the New Years Eve party without smoking another pack) but I finally did it - for me it was harder to quit than the drugs I did, but I'm sure its because I didn't use a spiritual connection...I just white knuckeled it.
