Sage Stallone’s Death Probed – Possible Overdose

Law enforcement officials investigating the death of actor Sage Stallone are trying to determine what role, if any, drugs contributed to his demise.  TMZ has reported that baggies filled with white powder were found in his room, and their sources believe the power will likely prove to be ground up Hydrocodone, although cocaine is another possibility.  An autopsy has been performed and the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office is awaiting the results of toxicology tests.  No powder was found on his body. Stallone’s body was discovered in his Studio City apartment in the early hours of Friday, 13 July 2012, by a housekeeper after the 36 year-old son of one-time Hollywood heavyweight Sylvester Stallone had not been heard from for several days, causing loved ones to express concern over his well-being.  … Read entire article »

Adrenaline Junkie

When I jumped out of a plane in Switzerland, upon pulling the shoot safely I turned to my guide in tandem and immediately said, “Let’s go again!”  We hadn’t even landed yet. I am an adrenaline junkie, among other things.  Food, pills, liquor…you name it, and I probably like it.  Not only like it, but most likely have a strong, addictive relationship with it.  So much so that I had to quit it all one year ago in order to keep on living this life or risk hospitalization, prison, or death. That was the inevitable path and is for most addicts.  The problem is that when I enjoy something, I don’t want just some of it: I want it all and more.  I can’t just have one glass of wine—I want the … Read entire article »

Alabama Drug Offenders Getting a Raw Deal

Alabama Drug Offenders Getting a Raw Deal

This week Cameron Steele wrote an expose about the Alabama judicial system sending drug offenders into uncertified treatment programs.  While I think she may miss the mark by focusing to specifically on an ex-employee of an uncertified rehab and her relapse or ruse (which could happen anywhere), she did hit on a major issue.  The state does not have the capacity to incarcerate the drug offenders and therefore needs to divert them to drug programs, … Read entire article »

Piracetam: My Experience with Nootropics

Piracetam: My Experience with Nootropics

Who saw that movie Limitless?  I am sorry to reference such a distasteful new-age American film, but the principle behind it has relevance— I promise.  Don’t you wish you could take a drug that broadened your capacity to learn?  This rings particularly true in the realms of intellect and knowledge.  I take pride in what I know and the rate at which I learn things.  My ego likes to give its two-cents in areas of … Read entire article »

Secret Breaths

Secret Breaths

The secrets that I keep haunt my body like deadly, maniacal pathogens mocking their way through my marrow, tempting my soul with relapse. My disease inflates my balloon of shame so greatly that it creates a blockade between my lungs and throat, making it quite cumbersome to open up and expose myself. The longer I harbor these secrets, the larger the balloon becomes and the less room there is for air. It becomes increasingly harder … Read entire article »

Kristen Johnston Embraces Sobriety

Actress and comedienne Kristen Johnston, best known for her roles on the television shows Third Rock from the Sun and The Exes, has written a book titled Guts: The Endless Follies and Tiny Triumphs of a Tiny Disaster.  The brutally candid memoir recounts her exploits with prescription drugs and alcohol, which began in her teens, as well as her career and five-year battle with depression. Toward the end of her active addiction she even landed in the hospital with acute peritonitis, an inflammation of the peritoneum, the thin tissue that lines the inner wall of the abdomen and covers most of the abdominal organs.  At the time, she was in the midst of a career comeback, headlining in the West End production of Love Song.  The actress recalls, “Opening night, and … Read entire article »
