OH MOON, DON’T ABANDON ME

And so his mother, dissolving into Alzheimer’s
has to go away.
He struggles to tell her
in just the right way, so she will
surrender, to the fade. Now.
This, in the end, is what it’s about:
giving up, a piece at a time…
whether we’re ready or not.

No wonder I am driving so fast.
