On December 9th, a narcotic detective in the Rhineland Palatine area in Germany arrested a Berlin hippy when they discovered a peculiar Christmas tree. Trimmed with lights and tinsel, it turns out he had decorated his 6 foot tall Cannabis plant as a Christmas tree. The marijuana plant, along with 150 grams of weed, was confiscated. The resident was arrested and is being held. The 58 year old man had said he was planning on adding more decorations and putting presents under the tree to be opened on Christmas morning. An original member of the “old 68ers” a well bread hippie, will most likely be waking up on Christmas morning in a German prison.

The best part is, this is not the first time Cannabis has been used for Holiday decorations. In 2009, a 28 year old prisoner of Portland, England managed to have a marijuana plan growing in his prison cell. He was able to cultivate and grow several plans claiming they were tomato plants. Other residents claimed they were visible to everyone and had looked more like an educational botanical garden. How did he eventually get caught? When he decided to decorate one of them as a Christmas tree.
