VH1 Success Story Bridgette Nielsen Back on the Bottle

Nielsen, born on July 15^th 1963 in Rødovre, Denmark, began her career modeling for Greg Gorman and Helmut Newton. In the mid-eighties she starred in various known films with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, and Eddie Murphy and later starred in some B-list movies. In 1985 she also married Stallone but their marriage only lasted a mere two years ending in 1987. She has released several albums; 1987 – 2002, such as Every Body Tells a Story, I’m the One… Nobody Else, including several singles. Just recently she performed (using her real name Gitte Nielsen) on the song Misery with Spleen United, from the album School of Euphoria (2012).

Beginning in 2004, Nielsen appeared on the reality T.V show, VH1’s The Surreal Life. This started her reality show career, frequently appearing on many more such as Flavor Flav’s reality show, Flavor of Love, Britain’s Celebrity Big Brother, and VH1′s The Surreal Life: Fame Game. She then fell into a different category of reality television: reality rehab T.V. Starring on the first season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, which recorded her fight to overcome her alcoholism at the Pasadena Recovery Center in Pasadena, California, was subsequently a success and she stayed sober from alcohol up until recently.

In L.A’s El Ray Park, Nielsen was photographed by an unknown person holding a bottle of vodka in her hand and looking totally intoxicated. Witnesses stated that she took sips from cheap-looking liquor bottles, not only having one but a couple and chain smoked -Nielsen said early in 2009 that she quit smoking. It was also reported that she passed out and after a couple of hours woke up dazed, leaving the park through a bunch of bushes, stumbling as she made her way home.

Seeing a fellow alcoholic struggling, sadly after claiming that she had four years of sobriety is sad and heartbreaking. As being one of the only celebrities that succeeded after completing Dr. Drew’s Celebrity Rehab this is a really big fall and it will be hard for her to get back up on the horse. I know from personal experience. Gone are her days of modeling and movies…..she looks a total mess; not like the beautiful and talented woman she was back then. She was doing so well before this startling slip, hosting events, and beginning to release music again, which was once a passion of hers. I really hope someone reaches out to her and can get her some help because it looks like she really needs it. This is the first known news of her relapse and her ensuing behavior and there will probably continue to be much more to come if she does not get the help she so desperately deserves.
