Snoop Dogg/Lion Faces Another Drug Bust

Snoop Dogg Mug ShotThe rapper formerly known as Snoop Dogg and now renamed Snoop Lion allowed his drug habit to hold him up once again when he was caught with marijuana in Norway! Known for being a heavy marijuana user, Snoop got caught by Norwegian authorities with marijuana and more cash with him than was allowed without declaring it upon entering the state. Airport security cited the music artist, legally named Calvin Broadus, less than 2 weeks ago for the offense. Snoop will stay out of court though, facing the equivalent of an $8,600 fine and two years exile from the Scandinavian nation of Norway. Drug sniffing dogs followed the odor of marijuana in the Kjevik Airport emanating from Snoop Dogg. He had more than a quarter of an ounce of weed is his possession.

Snoop showed five hours late to his scheduled venue. Why? “I was late ’cause I went to go get some chicken wings … ’cause I wanted to see Norway up close and personal, and visit an old folks’ home,” he said, according to E! News. “I went to visit a convalescent home. That’s why I was late.”

According to the International Business Times Snoop’s tracks like “Smoke Weed Every Day” reveals something about his personal life; his marijuana use is classified as habitual, supported by a career of tracks glorifying marijuana usage. Snoop has been banned from several nations, apparently for various reasons. The list of nations that have banned him include Australia, The Netherlands, and Great Britain. He was also banned from a California high school. All of these personal bans have led SPIN magazine to dub him “Leader of the Banned”.

Snoop does have a medical marijuana card, giving him the legal right to possess the substance. However, did he forget that his card is only good in the state that granted it to him? It’s likely that carrying medical marijuana into another state or another country would be illegal. However, most crimes require negligence or intent for them to be prosecutable, which probably would not be provable since the man needed his medicine. According to his doctor, medical marijuana is a necessary drug.

May I suggest that Snoop’s recent name change does not have anything to do with his 2012 legal woes? He was popped in Texas in January of this year for possessing a larger amount of marijuana. Now officially named “Snoop Lion,” the rapper may be looking for a fresh start. However, he is not trying to distance himself from the marijuana smoking image, leading this amateur reporter to believe that his habitual use which is likely an addiction will not change any time soon. Snoop Lion has actually expressed openly his feelings about the drug. Contact Music Quotes Snoop as saying “To write rap I’ve got to smoke a lot of weed.” That indicates dependence, so it is fair to say that Snoop could be classified as a marijuana addict—a drug addict.

Snoop (and his fans may still call him “Snoop”) Lion will soon be releasing a reggae album. Reggae music has long been known for its connection with marijuana smoking and even Rastafarianism. For marijuana smokers these avenues of expression and lifestyle may be appealing, but for the recovering marijuana/drug addict, steering clear of these may be wise.
