Lindsay Lohan SNL Ridicule
Lindsay Lohan and her drug use have made the news, yet again. Recently she was the host on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, where she reportedly seemed to be having trouble “coping with the pressure of hosting” the show (Merriam, 2012). Her performance was highly and harshly criticized. Many people picked at the fact that she was not left alone off stage for very long during her intro. People have been making claims she was clearly and obviously staring blankly at cue cards. As for the skits she performed in, she played a minor role in most of them. What is up, Linds??? I thought you were such a smokin’ hot babe when The Parent Trap came out.
Her father, Michael Lohan, goes on to explain on her behalf that she was “not using any illicit drugs or drinking but she still is on prescription drugs that they gave her; the meds that they give her are meds that they she needs, but she doesn’t need them.” That’s a pretty strong statement, Michael. I can only wonder what medication she is on. It has not been disclosed. I also wonder just who “they” are. I can say from personal experience that I was seeing a qualified, certified, MD that was prescribing me 80mg/day of methadone for my opiate addiction. I later found out he is a podiatrist, and has no experience in addiction medicine. So, just because I was being prescribed a medication, didn’t mean I needed it, and definitely doesn’t constitute sobriety in my opinion. There are way too many crooked doctors in this world, particularly Los Angeles.
It is tricky to determine whether or not she truly needs this medication. If it is some sort of psychiatric medication, and her sanity and stability are severely out of whack, and poses an imminent threat to herself and others, I strongly encourage Mr. Lohan to keep his effing mouth shut. Nothing pisses me off more than when I hear a sponsor tell their sponsee they aren’t sober if they are on psych meds. That definitely is not true. On the flipside, if she is taking some BS Valium/Xanax, Adderall (she was supposedly taking addy in the past), methadone, or something like that, I am not in support of it. If she truly has debilitating conditions that are only treatable via a controlled substance such as one of the above mentioned, I can understand. I guess her, the pharmacist, her doctor, her father, and her higher power (if she has one) know her conditions and whether she needs this medication she is taking.
