My Psychotic Debauchery with Bath Salts
My name is Brian and I am blogging about my experiences with the recent legal designer drug known as “Bath Salts.” Although they may sound harmless, this is hardly the case. There are not even traces of sodium in the white gram-sized powders sold at smoke shops nation-wide. They are snorted like cocaine or methamphetamine and have similar mimicking affects. I first tried this drug in January of 2010. It was in the form of relapse from gateway drugs I used in the past. I knew it was sold at a smoke shop by my parents’ house, so one day, off I went. When I bought the vial of bath salts named ‘White Lightening,” the store employee also gave me a Slurpee straw with an end shaped like a small spoon … Read entire article »
Give the Gift of Sobriety
Gift giving doesn’t have to be limited to flashy jewelry or the latest in blood soaked video games. A more meaningful and longer lived present can come from a positive book, one centered on the struggles we have living a spiritual life in an often profane world. For your loved one in recovery this holiday season (or any other time) I’ve compiled a list of the top ten books involving alcoholism, addiction, mental illness, or treatment centers. I’ve personally read most of them and heard glowing recommendations from friends for the others. In all cases I’d be interested in hearing feedback from you, the reading audience. Let me know your thoughts on these memoirs, novels, and accounts – as well as any other books that might have been left off. … Read entire article »

From then the program has taken on the name of this book and has expanded to millions of members across the globe. Not many people know of the story of how and why Bill Wilson got sober through his spiritual awakening. In 1901 Charles B. Social Drug Use to Full Blown Addict
Never in a lifetime did I think I would be sticking a needle in my arm. When I thought of an IV drug user it disgusted me. I related it to being homeless, broke and having all kinds of diseases. My Aunt was an IV drug user with hepatitis C and her boyfriend died of a heroin overdose when I was younger. I remember telling myself that will never be me. NEVER! I was a high honors student who got straight A’s in school and played football, baseball and hockey. I had lots of friendsnone of which used drugs. That was untilone of my friends had, what I thought was a genius idea, at the time. His idea was to try smoking pot. At this time I was only in 7th … Read entire article »
When Is Enough, Enough?
Many of us struggle with the self defeating behavior of vanity. In some cases a person’s perception of how they view themselves physically can cause them to obsess about their looks and appearance at an unhealthy level. Some of us will go to any length to change our appearance to make up for we what we think we lack, appearance wise and in other aspects of our lives even to the point where it is self-destructive to our own well being. This is my story on vanity. In my experience I chose to change my body chemistry physically as a means to improve upon what I thought I was lacking. Growing up as a child I was always the shortest or one of the shortest kids in my grade. I was … Read entire article »

Definite Link Between Marijuana, Meth and Schizophrenia
Definite links between the use of methamphetamine, marijuana, and the development of schizophrenia have been shown in a recent study from researchers at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto.
