New Study Claims Alcohol More Dangerous Than Heroin & Crack Cocaine
A new study shows that alcohol has been proven to be the most lethal drug out of any illegal drugs, including heroin, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, MDMA and acid. Celebrity Sex Addiction
Sex addiction is often just as debilitating as an addiction to drugs or alcohol; people become compulsively attached to sexual engagements as a route to shift their current feelings and take the focus off their problems. Many use their sex addiction and submit it to press in hopes of using the “sex addiction” as an excuse for infidelity or to plead innocence in having multiple sexual partners. Large scale celebrities such as Tiger Woods … Read entire article »

Vivitrol Treats Addiction?
Vivitrol has already been approved as a possible treatment for alcohol addiction. It was recently passed on October 14th, 2010, by the Food & Drug Administration as a drug to treat addiction for opiates such as heroin, morphine, Oxycontin and Vicodin. It is said to be the first non-narcotic, non-addictive drug used to treat opiate dependence. Eligible patients can receive the treatment after undergoing detoxification. Vivitrol is given by way of injection, once a month and works as an opiate antagonist, which actually blocks the opioid receptors, leaving the patient unable to feel the effects of any opiates. The drug is said to leave patients with a significantly lower tolerance than normal to opiates if they were to miss their monthly dose. The one serious downside is that this could … Read entire article »

Addiction Treatment with Animal Assisted Therapy
Riding horses has saved my life. It has been so vital to my recovery in so many different ways that are unexplainable in words. If I could give what I’ve gotten from horseback riding to everyone in the program, nobody would relapse or go back out. My journey in recovery has not been the smoothest, but being able to connect with such an intelligently present animal has possibly saved me. Even when using, riding has … Read entire article »

California Marijuana Laws and Prop 19
Federal law says they will continue to make arrests of individuals and organizations using cannabis even if Prop 19 is passed. Both Eric Holder, the attorney general of California and the Justice department claim that the Federal Government will enforce its laws even against California’s will, no matter which way people vote. The Justice Department remains very opposed to people possessing, distributing and cultivating cannabis, as well as California’s prop 19. It is said by the department that the federal Controlled substances Act will be strictly enforced regardless of what prop 19 overturns. In 1996, California was independent in making themselves the only state that people could use cannabis under medical supervision and for medicinal purposes only. Since 1996, thirteen other states as well as the District of Columbia also cosigned … Read entire article »

One Year Old Run Over By Father
Last Saturday night a one-year-old baby was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sitting in the driveway of his home around 12:45 am, his drunk father was getting ready to pull in to the driveway and didn’t see the baby sitting there. Ramirez Lopez, 27, claims that he didn’t mean to run over his baby son. However, allegedly he was charged with a felony of a DUI — other charges are also pending depending on the status of the baby. Reading this, I began to wonder where the mother was this whole time or why the baby was sitting outside by himself in the first place. The drunk father was arrested for a twelve hour period the night of the accident, then released. He’s not yet been charged … Read entire article »

Sober Companion or Treatment Centers
Adolescent treatment centers are mostly used today as scared straight programs rather than rehabilitation centers. Some will call themselves therapeutic boarding schools or residential treatment centers but there are loopholes to these places for adolescents. The counselors know that the kids cannot leave on their own volition so the counselors and directors get to feeling entitled and end up having too much power and money in their hands.I speak from experience as I have visited many of these places myself and have had friends who have lived in an residential treatment center, wilderness or therapeutic boarding schools for years on end. Some will keep perfectly normal teenagers for three to four years minimum or until the client reaches age 18. Even still, the programs convince the parents of how sick … Read entire article »
