Funny Man Kevin Hart Isn’t Laughing Now After Arrested For DUI

Last Sunday, funny man Kevin Hart put himself in a not-so-funny predicament when he was pulled over after officers spotted the comedian/actor driving in a black Mercedes, weaving back and forth between lanes on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles at around 4:30 AM.  When officers pursued him, he took an off-ramp and pulled over. According to California Highway Patrol officers, Hart was “driving erratic,” “going 90 MPH” and “almost collided with a gas tanker truck.” The CHP also said when they pulled him over, he showed “objective signs of intoxication” and was “unable to perform field sobriety tests.” After the arrest, Hart was booked into a local jail for misdemeanor DUI just before 6:00 AM and posted a $5,000 bond. Subsequent to being freed from jail, the always hilarious comedian posted a couple … Read entire article »

Ozzy Osbourne: Back on the Crazy Train

A rock legend since the 70’s, “the prince of darkness”, Ozzy Osbourne has fought substance abuse problems throughout his entire life, and fortunately in 2003 confronted his addiction in rehab.  It looks like the war for his sobriety rages on, and that he lost a battle with his addiction and relapsed. In a post on his official Facebook.com page he writes, “For the last year and a half I have been drinking and taking drugs.  I was in a very dark place and was an asshole to the people I love most, my family.  However, I am happy to say that I am now 44 days sober.” The 64-year old Black Sabbath front man’s relapse might have occurred for a couple of reasons.  There has been persistent speculation that his marriage to … Read entire article »

Lindsay Lohan: Partying it Up Once Again After Hearing Her Rehabilitated Fate

After hearing that she was sentenced to 90 days in a locked rehab facility along with 18 months of psychotherapy, 30 days of community service and two years’ probation after taking a no-jail plea deal, starting May 2, Lindsay Lohan instinctively flocked to two California nightclubs before beginning her long “road to recovery”. On March 22, the hard-partying Lohan showed up at a San Diego nightclub, FLUXX, and then the next day, she and a few friends partied over at 41 Ocean in Santa Monica to watch Lohan’s supposed new boyfriend, Avi Snow, a member of the band, “City of the Sun” play.  He also works as a club promoter. This little fling sounds like a bad move on Lohan’s part because members of bands and club promoters usually are big partyers … Read entire article »

Being Ready, Willing, and Committed to Having My Higher Power Remove My Shortcomings

Being Ready, Willing, and Committed to Having My Higher Power Remove My Shortcomings

As of yesterday, I completed my sixth and seventh steps, which state: Step 6. “Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.” Step 7. “Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.” Character defects, which are things like ego, anger, and rationalization, are in all of us, and most of the time living with these defects makes it harder to live a more spiritual life, a life closer to our Higher Power. While working with my … Read entire article »

Bruno Mars Discusses His Former Drug Abuse and Moving On With Life

With such a successful career already unfolding and countless hits under his belt, including “Grenade,” “Locked out of Heaven,” and most recently, “If I Was Your Man,” Bruno Mars seems like the perfect rock star with no cares in the world, but he has had anything but a “perfect” past, having recently come clean about his earlier drug abuse and mostly forgotten nights. During an interview with GQ, Mars recalled the evening he was arrested for possession of drugs In Las Vegas in 2010. “I was really drunk. The Power of a Higher Power

The Power of a Higher Power

“In Step Eleven we saw that if a Higher Power had restored us to sanity and had enabled us to live with some peace of mind in a sorely troubled world, then such a Higher Power was worth knowing better, by as direct contact as possible.” – 12&12 Step Twelve, p.108.  While in recovery my Higher Power, which I choose to call God, has been the backbone and influence of every little thing that has … Read entire article »

Rick Springfield Served Arrest Warrant for His Past DUI

Back in May of 2011, Rick Springfield was issued a DUI in Malibu after cops pulled him over in his 1963 Corvette Stingray.  At the time of the arrest, the rock star appeared to be intoxicated.  His run-in with the law was less than cordial.  Malibu police told sources that Rick threatened to kill the deputy who had arrested him, and the deputy’s family, if he had Rick’s car towed.  Now, almost two years after the incident, he is now facing consequences after he failed to show up for his court date to resolve the DUI matter. After Rick missed his court date this February, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.  A representative for the court explained the situation, “He was supposed to show proof he completed an alcohol … Read entire article »

Serene With Serenity

Serene With Serenity

One of my favorite lines concerning serenity is in Step Three, page 41, of the 12&12 that states, “In all times of emotional disturbance or indecision, we can pause, ask for quiet, and in the stillness simply say: ‘God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. Thy will, not mine, be done.’” Before becoming a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, … Read entire article »
