New Weight Loss Pill Combines Addiction Drugs
A new weight loss pill has been produced using a combination of drugs that help decrease drinking and terminate smoking. This new pill, known as Contrave, is a mixture of naltrexone and bupropion. Alcoholics use naltrexone to decrease cravings from alcohol. Bupropion is used to treat depression and cigarette addiction. Anorexia Rates Increase Among Middle Aged Women
A new study reveals that more and more women in their thirties and older are under just as much pressure as young girls to stay thin. Stephen Touyz, a professor of clinical psychology at the University of Sydney studied a group of women from Sydney, Australia suffering from anorexia. Touyz noted that the disease was common in older women, with many of whom have suffered from it since adolescence. Some older women feel ashamed admitting they have a disorder which is associated with teens. Therefore, they often refrain from reaching out for help. Lindsay Lohan Enters Rehab
Lindsay Lohan began her rehab treatment at approximately 1:25am this morning, Monday August 2nd. She was released from jail and taken to UCLA’s Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital under the orders of Judge Marsha Revel. According to the hospitals website, cell phones and laptops are not allowed. There are strict visiting hours and no field trips far away from the facility. Hopefully this rehab, stricter than Lindsay’s first choice, Morningside Recovery, will provide her with the opportunity to face her demons and understand her addiction. Going along with the rigorous honesty I am practicing in my own recovery through alcoholics anonymous, I must say I am slightly uncomfortable writing about Lindsay. Being only a couple years younger than she is, I see Lindsay as one of my peers going through similar … Read entire article »

Love Addiction & Rejection, Linked to Drug Addiction
A recent study at Stony Brook University proves why it is so difficult to end a romantic relationship. Scientists found evidence that areas in the brain linked to motivation, reward, and addiction are activated after a break up. According to the July 2010 issue of the Journal of Neurophysiology, people going through break ups showed brain imaging that revealed romantic love is a goal-oriented motivation as opposed to a certain emotion. The same brain imaging was seen in people suffering from cocaine cravings and addiction. Scientists believe this data reveals romantic love to be a specific form of addiction. Feelings and behaviors of romantic rejection are difficult to control. Extreme behaviors such as, stalking, suicide, and clinical depression, can be seen in people suffering from romantic rejection all over the world. In … Read entire article »
