New Bill would Send Drug Bust Money to Addiction Treatment Centers
A proposal was approved by the Illinois House stating the county prosecutors would donate the money seized during drug busts to local treatment centers for substance abuse.
A percentage of the money from drug busts goes to state’s attorneys and the rest goes to other law enforcement agencies. There would be an option for the money to be given to drug treatment centers or halfway houses .
In my opinion that is a fantastic idea. It would be a shame for the money to go elsewhere. This is the future of our country we are talking about, helping those are addicted turn their lives around.
This proposal will head into the Senate for further debate.
